This is my latest landscape depicting the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, an unbelievable backdrop in the high dessert valley where I live in Southern Colorado 💙💙💙 I see these every where I go as they loom above me, with peaks over 14,000 and 13,000ft.
As you browse through the photos, notice how the mosaic changes in different light, starting in cool natural light, then warm natural light where I hold the mosaic outside and then warm artificial light in the studio while it is being framed.
In one of the photos, I am holding the almost finished art piece for scale. This was before it was framed which can be seen in some of the other photos.
The mosaic is opaque in nature and created to hang on a wall just like a painting. It has a hanging wire attached to the back and is ready to hang.
Check out this beautiful song about our region San Luis by Gregory Alan Isakov. I feel like I almost hear this song now when I look at this new mosaic. He captured the feeling of the valley and the surrounding mountains so beautifully.
